Discover Bethesda, Maryland...365 Days a Year!

Day 12: Are you Green?

Be a good steward of our home, the Earth, and e-Cycle this Saturday!

Gather your old computers, cords, cell phones, printers, keyboards and mice (not the furry kind).  It’s time to be GREEN and e-Cycle!  On SATURDAY, JANUARY 15th from 10 AM – 6 PM, Whole Foods at 5269 River Rd. in Bethesda will be collecting your electronic wastes for proper disposal.  Apparently they will even be “scrubbing” hard drives so you don’t have to worry that anything personal will be discovered by someone trying to hack in to your old computer.

Waste from electronics when not handled correctly is highly toxic and carcinogenic (bad for you and cancer-causing).  Please read the following article posted on GreenLivingAnswers.com for an understanding of how much these wastes harm our environment.  Set a good example and dispose of these items correctly.  People, I know you have things lying around!  As Nike says, “Just Do It!”

If you live in the greater Bethesda area and you can’t make it to Whole Foods for this event, please look for more opportuunities coming soon or you can make a trip anytime to the Shady Grove Rd facility located at 16101 Fredrick Rd., Derwood, MD.

Let’s all do our part to protect our environment and dispose of electronic wastes correctly.

P.S.  Did you know that you can bring any printer toner cartridges to your local Staples store for disposal?  Thanks for caring about “our home”, the Earth.

Thanks,  Amy
