Day 129: Bundles of Cookies – The Perfect Gift!

Bundles of Cookies - 4930 Hampden Ln

Today I stopped by Bundles of Cookies located at 4930 Hampden Lane in Bethesda.  It’s kind of like walking into Disneyland in there – you’re surrounded by cartoony, colorful cookies of all kinds and it made me feel like a kid.  I wanted to take them all home!  Bundles of Cookies creates unique and fun cookie arrangements of all kinds.  Their creations are endless and ideal for birthdays, weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, holidays, showers and graduation parties.  They have keepsake containers that hold the cookie displays which make them perfect for centerpieces or as hand-delivered bouquets.  What a fun idea for a wedding table centerpiece or even a cake topper!

With graduations and Father’s Day just around the corner, a bouquet of cookies is the perfect gift for someone who’s really tough to buy for.  They have some terrific ideas for Dads including a “Just Grillin'” bundle (my favorite) and a “Mr. Fix-It” bundle.  How fun is that?

But what I really enjoyed about Bundles of Cookies is that you’re not limited to their designs.  They have the ability to customize the cookies and arrangements for you.  If you can dream it, they will do it.  Need a great party favor or give away for a corporate event?  Have your business logo put on a cookie!  They are sure to be a big hit!  They have some terrific political cookie baskets too that cracked me up…you could add your own “messages” on the donkey or elephant cookie of course.

The owner of the shop, Sarah Kerchner, was not in today when I stopped by but I was told she is often there personally working on her creations.  The cookies are baked and decorated on-site and they will ship them anywhere via UPS.  It just so happens that the UPS store is just a couple of doors down so there is no delay in getting them on their way.

There are no added preservatives in Sarah’s almond sugar cookies but they last for 7-10 days or, if you’re a slow cookie nibbler, they can be frozen for up to 3 months and enjoyed gradually.  Sarah has loved baking cookies since she was a kid and started Bundles of Cookies in 1998.  The company is a huge success and has been featured on MSNBC, Rachel Ray, The New York Times, Modern Bride, Washingtonian magazine and more.  Now they’re featured here on!  Sarah has really made the big time now!  🙂

I can think of no better, more personalized gift option for anyone who is tough to buy for than a bundle of cookies.  Be creative and stop by with your cookie ideas.  Don’t expect $2 cookies.  These are a little pricier but hey these are quality gourmet gifts not late-night craving snack cookies.  Invest a little and your return will be big smiles for sure!     ~Amy

UPDATE:  It’s now June 2011 and my daughter graduated from Walt Whitman High School.  I got a bundle of cookies for her grad party and they were a big hit!  Here’s the picture – she is a red head with blue-rimmed glasses, just like the cookie portrays!  The cookies are in Whitman blue except for the moving van cookie which reflects the colors of her new college.
