Day 175: Mini Cupcakes Delight

Our mini cupcake and champagne toast

We recently attended a birthday party for a friend turning 41 and, for dessert, his wife doled out mini cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake.  They were the perfect small dessert treat for a party and, of course, tasted great like any cupcake from GTC does!  We had no idea that mini cupcakes were available until then but found that they were the perfect one or two-bite party treat.  One word of warning: they could also be a diet destroyer because you can’t help but to feel like eating 3, 4, 5 or more, popping them in like M&M’s!

Brian’s daughter was coming up on her 21st birthday a couple of weeks later so we decided that the mini cupcakes were the ideal fit for her party and champagne toast.  We stopped by Georgetown Cupcake located at 4834 Bethesda Ave. to place the order a couple of days in advance.  They allowed us to select the icing color and they were also happy to add a message to the top of the minis, one letter per cake.

The minimum order for mini cupcakes is 24 cupcakes of the same flavor but that was just fine since we were hosting 18 for the party.  We went with red velvet – her favorite flavor – with a hot pink icing.  They were a big hit.  The good news about ordering cupcakes in advance at GTC is that you don’t have to wait in the line to pick up your order – just head straight to the check-out.  If you have ever seen the line stretched down Bethesda Ave, then you know why this is such a great perk!

Hmmm…I think I need a cupcake right now.  I wonder how late they’re open tonight?     ~Amy

P.S.  Sweet!  I just looked it up!  They’re open ’til 9 PM on Saturday nights.  Georgetown Cupcake, here I come!  Now the dilemma is what flavor to choose – maybe peanut butter fudge or perhaps I will try orange blossom or white chocolate raspberry, both seasonal treats for the summer.  Suggestions?

I did not get a cupcake that night…not because I didn’t try. But as usual the line was stretched down Bethesda Ave even at 8 PM! Darn! Craving left unsatisfied! Amy
